LEADERSHIP TEAM

Emma Milligan
Acting Director

Picture
Emma is a full-time classroom teacher at Murrays Bay Intermediate School.  She has been the music specialist teacher at a variety of Auckland Schools since 2015.  She holds a BMus in Composition and a GradDipTch in Secondary School Music.  Emma specialises in woodwinds, and can be found enjoying playing in the pit of musical theatre productions, or at home with her husband and two kids enjoying NZ beaches and BBQs.

Emily Sullivan

Trumpet and Recorder Tutor

​Emily has been playing trumpet and various other brass instruments for over 10 years and holds an ABRSM Grade 8 with distinction in Trumpet. She currently plays in the North Shore Brass Band and various national ensembles, including the National Youth Brass Band. She has taught at Mid Bays for just over a year.

Jamie Oh

Amia Ringrose
​​​Recorder

​Jamie studies Classical Flute Performance at the University of Auckland, holding Grade 8 and ARSM in Flute and Grade 5 Music Theory. She regularly performs as a soloist, as well as in orchestras and chamber groups, and loves working with young people who are passionate about music.

Amia has been playing recorder since 2019, attaining Grade 5 recorder in 2023 and being awarded the Janet Herron Memorial award at Whangārei Youth Music in 2022 for recorder playing. More recently she has volunteered at the NZ Music Camp in 2024-25. She is excited to join Mid-Bays this year. 

William Wei
​Keyboard and Cello

​William has been playing both piano and cello for over a decade with an ATCL diploma in both. He currently plays cello with the Auckland Youth Orchestra and has taught at Mid-Bays Music School for 4 years.​

Caleb Wright
​Drums, Saxophone and Guitar

Caleb has specialised in drums, guitar, and saxophone for over 6 years. He achieved Level 3 NCEA Performance at an excellence level in 2024 and received an NZQA Music Composition Scholarship in 2023. Caleb is currently in his second year of a Bachelor of Popular Music at the University of Auckland.

Charlotte Marriott
Clarinet

Charlotte is a multi-instrumentalist playing clarinet, bass clarinet, alto saxophone, and cello. Currently working towards her Trinity Guildhall ATCL Diploma, she plays 1st Clarinet with the New Zealand Youth Symphonic Winds and performs with Westcity Music ensembles. Recent highlights include performing in the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra's productions of La Traviata and Monsters in the Maze. With over ten years of clarinet experience, Charlotte is passionate about developing her skills while mentoring younger students

Larisa McPherson
Keyboard

Larissa is a qualified pianist and registered teacher with over 30 years experience holding a Masters degree in Music. Her warm approach to your child's lessons will foster a passion for music and help to reach your potential in a fun and encouraging way.

Jay Chen
​Ukulele

​​Jay has been playing ukulele since 2013 and teaching ukulele at Mid-Bays Music School for their second year now. With a background playing in school bands, Rockquest, as well as teaching music since 2020, Jay enjoys helping students build confidence, musical skills, and a love for learning music.

Eric Shi

​Eric has been playing piano since primary school and holds an ATCL in piano performance. He regularly plays for church services as well as in his own time to continue improving and personal enjoyment.

Alyssa Gailer
Ukulele

​Alyssa has been playing the Ukulele for over a decade and has been a ukulele teacher at Mid-Bays Music School for two and a half years. With an extensive range of musical styles and vocal expertise, she enjoys sharing her love of music with children, hoping to foster a passion for music and the arts. 

Michel Zhou
Keyboard

Michel began piano at age seven and has since achieved distinction in both ATCL Piano Performance and Grade 8 Violin. She enjoys teaching others and aims to foster an appreciation for music and learning in her students. She has been with Mid-Bays for 2 years
